We lost some of our deepest thinkers in 2022.

By “our” I mean a nebulous cabal of polymaths behind such consciousness raising campaigns as:

We lost Glenn in October and CJ in December.

Each was affiliated with a specific society: Wanderers, based in Portland, Oregon and the Greater Philadelphia Thinking Society respectively.

Glenn and I were interested in views of the globe, of any planet, fictional or factual, using a hexagons with pentagons matrix. Like a soccer ball but with a lot more hexagons (twelve pentagons will do, whatever the frequency). Like with buckyballs (Carbon-60) or fullerenes more generally.

Global Matrix

CJ’s goals were compatible in that he drew upon partially overlapping resources. His slant was to serve a would-be comprehensivist eager to develop a serviceable mind map of all relevant terrain.

CJ was especially keen to detect and circle pitfalls, such as “analysis paralysis”. He was greatly inspired by The Design Way by Harold Nelson and Erik Stolterman, a book for designers with similar concerns, and a focus on workflows.
