If you’re a veteran of math-teach at Math Forum, a publicly archived discussion list, since expunged, or are just joining us through YouTubes or other subcultural commonalities (Whole Earth Catalog?), then you probably recognize memes such as: Martian Math, Silicon Forest, School of Tomorrow.

However, let’s say you have none of this background. A glossary of sorts, would be in order.

Martian Math: a repackaging of the little-studied geometric philosophy of R. Buckminster Fuller, architect, futurist, comprehensivist (as in polymath).

Silicon Forest: a bevy of electronics and software related companies, branching into health care, with allies throughout its education system, arising in the Pacific Northwest region of the fifty North American federated states (see Cascadia), between California (see Silicon Valley) and Canada.

School of Tomorrow: a retro-sounding name for a school of thought, and or invisible college, cyberia-based, variably manifest, that packages up the above two and brings them into a structured curriculum. Said school has a footprint in the Silicon Forest, which in turn serves as a platform.

Already, this is sounding rather esoteric. But that’s a plus actually. Who doesn’t want to dabble in esoterica from time to…
