I imagine these mixed use intergenerational skyscrapers, already starting to pop up, with working, studying, shopping, eating, sleeping, exercising all handled within the one building or building complex (like on a cruise ship, like a campus). You’re free to come and go of course, but for the cost of that UBI, you’ll at least have a minimal lifestyle covered. You’ll have a personal workspace with ample internet, enough to eat.
Once accepted, you have opportunities to ascend in various ways (pun intended), within the building’s organization. Or maybe move and restart. That compulsion to commute daily, burning precious, finite fuels, is what we hope to counter with these more cruise ship like lifestyles. Peak oil is precious.
